Contractor Services

4 Peaks is ready to assist you with your next project. We provide building performance testing, verification, and installation services for both new construction and remodels. 4 Peaks delivers proven installation services designed to work in our mountain communities. Combining our team’s building science knowledge and years of construction experience, we provide valuable services for you and your customers. We are flexible in our approach, able to provide services that fit with your team or complements your current team’s capabilities. Our goal is to deliver cost effective solutions to achieve performance targets and avoid project delays.

Building Performance

We will assist you in achieving the target standards required by your local building codes or a customer requesting a high-performing building.

Blower Door Test

A blower door is a machine used to measure the airtightness of buildings. It can also be used to measure airflow between building zones, test ductwork airtightness, and to help physically locate air leakage sites in the building envelope. 4 Peaks has the ability to test remodels, single-family homes, and multi-family projects. We will evaluate the building envelope performance, locate air leakage pathways, calculate how much ventilation is supplied by the air leakage, assess the energy losses resulting from that air leakage, determine if the building needs mechanical ventilation, and ensure the project is in compliance with building performance standards.

Thermal Imaging

Our digital infrared cameras are able to see where your team can’t. A thermal image provides great insight on specific areas of a building and how it is performing. Thermal imaging cameras effectively translate thermal energy into visible images you can show your team. These cameras are extremely precise, requiring only a small amount of thermal energy to show variations in building performance. Based on temperature differences behind sheetrock, we can identify air leakage, missing insulation, moisture, thermal bridges, and underperforming building assemblies.

Comfort & Livability

Ensure your customers are comfortable and living worry free in their new home. Our building performance experts will assist your team in verifying the entire living area of a home is delivering the desired results both for comfort and energy usage. We have the ability to perform zonal testing, which identifies if an area of the home is adversely connected to the outside. Our equipment will also test if an HVAC system is operating at peak performance and within specified design parameters.

Our construction professionals are available to install insulation packages, mechanical ventilation systems, and perform air sealing services. After installation we can also test and verify the performance before you move to the next phase of construction. It's better to verify early than to find out after a phase is completed, costing you more to fix.

Healthy Homes & Indoor Air Quality

Offer your customers a healthy home with verified indoor air quality standards. Separate yourself from other contractors.  We can assist you with our proven building science solutions.  Building performance extends beyond energy usage, today’s customer is also requiring a safe indoor environment for their family and friends to enjoy.

Today’s building science directive is to “build tight and ventilate right”.

Radon is a common concern in our Colorado mountain communities. Colorado is located in Zone 1 which represents high radon potential. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in the soil. According to the Colorado Department of Public Health, about 50% of homes have radon levels higher than the EPA’s acceptable levels Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the US. Without proper testing this odorless, colorless gas will go undetected in your next project.

4 Peaks has the equipment to digitally test your radon levels over a set period of time.  Our digital equipment will provide a verified report and chart of data samples indicating test levels.  With the ability to see radon level variations, our building scientists have a greater ability to identify problem areas and develop a solution to reduce the radon level to an acceptable level.  The World Health Organization recommends action be taken if levels are about 2.0 pCi/L and the EPA recommends action be taken if levels are greater than 4.0 pCi/L

Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV)

Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) are mechanical ventilation systems used to reduce the heating and cooling demands, while providing the opportunity to filter the air entering your customer’s home.  The benefit of these energy saving systems occurs when the system exchanges inside conditioned air with fresh outside air.  During this exchange the system maintains at least 75% of the heat from the inside air by preheating the colder outside air as it enters the home.  It’s important to maintain a healthy amount of fresh air entering the conditioned living space.  This managed air supply also has the ability to incorporate HEPA filters which greatly improves the quality of air.  Today’s challenges with dust, atmosphere impurities, and smoke will be managed so you can assure your customer is living in an efficient and healthy indoor environment.

Today’s building science directive is to “build tight and ventilate right”.

Indoor Air Contaminants

VOC and toxic impurities are common issues affecting indoor air quality.  Contamination from items stored or used to build the home will cause an unhealthy living environment.  Our team of professionals will identify sources and provide recommendations to address unwanted pollutants in the home.  Many of these toxic elements go undetected and can cause homeowner health issues.  We often assist people with allergies and respiratory conditions that require special attention to ensure unwanted episodes are not triggered in the home.  Our building science solutions will address your specific concern or we can perform a whole home assessment to identify unknown sources.

Building Durability

  • Reduce call backs.
  • Address ice dams without the use of expensive heat tape.
  • Moisture management, system controls, timers, monitors.
  • Conditioned crawl spaces.

Colorado’s harsh climate is continually applying stress on a home.  Dramatic changes in daily temperature, wind gusts, snow loads, monsoon rainfall, and intense sun all are attacking the home, affecting its long-term performance.  We know the weather challenges and have years of experience addressing issues that develop in our mountain communities.

Our team of construction professionals deliver solutions to address external water management, roof ice dams without the need for heat tape, frozen pipes that cause water damage, and internal moisture control.
